Digital blood tracking – explained

The key terms around blood tracking, driven-hunt dogs and deployment records.

What is a blood-tracking search?

A blood-tracking search (Nachsuche) is the targeted search for game that has been wounded by a shot or injured in a wildlife collision. It is carried out by a handler with a tested blood-tracking dog on a long leash. The aim is animal welfare: to find the game quickly and end its suffering. Types include check searches, successful searches, unsuccessful searches and pursuits.

What is a driven-hunt dog deployment?

In driven, battue and push hunts, free-ranging flushing dogs – such as German Wachtelhunds, Brackes or terriers – move the game, often wild boar. The records cover the type of hunt, release and recall times, dogs deployed, bag and injuries.

What is the LJV tracking report?

Recognised blood-tracking teams report their deployments every year to the state hunting association (Landesjagdverband, LJV). In Baden-Württemberg the reporting year runs from 1 April to 31 March, broken down by type of search and species such as red deer, wild boar and roe deer. Jagdhund Digital fills in the original template automatically.

What are InfraWild records?

Baden-Württemberg funds blood-tracking teams and flushing dogs in driven hunts for wild boar with a flat rate per deployment. This requires complete records: one deployment day per calendar day, no own hunting ground, confirmation by the hunt master. The app checks these conditions as you enter them.

Why digital? Because every deployment is recorded only once – and the tracking report, funding record and dog file all come from the same data. That saves time, avoids transcription errors and makes the work of blood-tracking teams visible.
